
As a step towards international cooperation in education, Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice-President, MERI Group of Institutions and Head of MERI Centre for International Studies (CIS), Prof. (Dr.) Ramakant Dwivedi met His Excellency Mr. Shalar Geldynazarov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to India at New Delhi, with the objective of furthering partnerships between the MERI Group, India Central Asia Foundation (ICAF) and Turkmenistan’s educational institutions.

Prof. Dwivedi highlighted the importance of Information Technology in today’s world and said that the MERI Group is concerned with curricula which are at the cutting edge of the industry. The IT programmes of the Group include advanced areas like Cybersecurity, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering and train the students to respond to the problems of the global scenario, like safeguarding the digital ecosystem and developing predictive technologies.
Discussions also updated the ongoing Joint Study between ICAF and Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The study, based on India-Turkmenistan relations, is geared toward promoting cooperation in economic, scientific, technological, and cultural fields. The results will provide useful inputs to students studying Indian studies in Turkmenistan or Turkmen studies in India and help deepen bilateral understanding and policy development.

Prof. Aggarwal said that MERI CIS focuses on international cooperation, and contribution to International Relations, Business, and Economic Studies is of significant importance. The Centre actively cooperates with international institutions and researchers to advance innovative and interdisciplinary research in international affairs.
Ambassador Geldynazarov thanked MERI Group and ICAF for their effort to strengthen Indo-Turkmenistan ties through education. He said that he was hopeful for the future of collaboration and thought that this Joint Study is a very important initiative toward mutual understanding of the two nations.
The meeting ended with Prof. Aggarwal presenting a bouquet and a shawl to Ambassador Geldynazarov, symbolizing MERI Group’s commitment to advancing educational and cultural ties. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in education and cultural exchange, marking a promising milestone in India-Turkmenistan relations.
