MHA Sends Team to Ayodhya Over Cyber Threats Before Ram Mandir Ceremony

Ahead of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya scheduled on January 22, 2024, preparations are in full swing. The event, set to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other prominent dignitaries, has garnered international attention, with invitations extended to 56 countries by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Ayodhya has already initiated a week-long celebration leading up to the main ceremony.

In the midst of these preparations, the Cyber Security Team of the Union Home Ministry raised alarms about the presence of ‘malicious mobile apps’ circulating on WhatsApp. These apps falsely claim to provide ‘VIP Entry’ to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir and are believed to be the work of cybercriminals. In response to the potential threats and issues arising from this cyber threat, the Ministry of Home Affairs has dispatched a high-level team to Ayodhya to address the situation.
