Milk price hike: Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav on Monday led protests outside Mother Dairy booths across the city, criticising the BJP-led central government for burdening citizens with another price hike, this time on milk.
The protest, which began at 4 PM, saw Congress workers gather at several Mother Dairy outlets, holding placards and shouting slogans against inflation. Yadav accused the government of being insensitive to the daily struggles of common people.
He had earlier announced the demonstration through his official account on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“The central and Delhi governments have imposed another burden on Delhiites by raising milk prices. In protest against this anti-people decision, Delhi Congress will hold demonstrations on May 5 at 4 PM.”

Mother Dairy raised prices by up to ₹2 per litre on April 30, citing increased procurement and input expenses. The increase applies to all milk varieties, including full cream, toned, double-toned, and cow milk. Full cream milk is now ₹69 per litre, up from ₹68.
This is the second such hike by the dairy brand in less than a year, the previous one having come in June 2024.
