New Delhi: On Tuesday, several museums in Delhi, including the Railway Museum, received bomb threats. Upon receiving these threats, the Delhi Police registered a case and initiated an investigation. Earlier in the day, the National Railway Museum also received a bomb threat via email, according to officials familiar with the situation. Senior police officer confirmed that an email with bomb threat was sent to National Railway Museum in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
Immediately after receiving the threat, the Delhi Police and a bomb disposal squad visited the museum premises and conducted a thorough search, eventually determining that the threat was a hoax.
This incident then follows a series of same bomb threat hoaxes targeting several schools and hospitals in Delhi in last few days.
In a related development, the Delhi Police apprehended a 13-year-old boy on Tuesday for allegedly sending a false bomb threat email to the Delhi airport. The email claimed that a bomb was planted on a Toronto-bound Air Canada flight.
The threat, received at 11:25 PM on June 4, indicated that a bomb was on flight number AC043 scheduled from Delhi to Toronto. Authorities later reported that the boy sent the email “just for fun” to see if he could be traced.
