The Union Cabinet has granted approval for the development of two new corridors for the Delhi Metro. These corridors will stretch from Lajpat Nagar to G Block in Saket and from Inderlok to Indraprastha, covering a combined distance of approximately 20 km. This decision is anticipated to greatly benefit the daily commute of approximately 2.5 lakh passengers. The estimated cost for this ambitious metro project is Rs 8,600 crore.
The Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor will span 8 km and include eight stations, while the Inderlok-Indraprastha line will cover 12 km with 10 stations. These new lines aim to offer direct connectivity, reducing travel time and eliminating the need for lengthy detours. They will also link key commercial areas, thus addressing the growing congestion in the city.
