Nirmala Sitharaman’s Delhi Metro Ride: Genuine Simplicity or Election Stunt? WATCH VIRAL VIDEO

New Delhi : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took a ride on the Delhi Metro on Friday, May 17, engaging with commuters during her journey. A video of this has gone viral on social media.

The clip shows Sitharaman standing in the coach. Moments later, a woman emerges from the rear, gently taps her on the shoulder, and says goodbye. This video was shared on X by Rishi Bagree (@rishibagree) with the caption: “This lady came and casually tapped the shoulder of the Indian Finance Minister.”

Sources indicate that the video was recorded while Sitharaman was traveling to Laxmi Nagar, East Delhi, to visit CA coaching classes.

The video has sparked various reactions:

QT – Queue Tee (@Peterpan74): “Who shot the video? Was this anticipated?”
Amitabh Chaudhary (@MithilaWaala): “She is 70, are we Indians losing respect? Why did none of the youngsters offer her a seat? Disgusting generation.”
حسن سجواني Hassan Sajwani (@HSajwanization): “The young ‘men’ sitting in front of her should be ashamed of letting an old lady stand while they sit! (Unless she asked for it)”
Abhishek Singh LJP (@Abhishek_LJP): “Forget her current position; the younger generation lacks basic decency for senior citizens. Where are we heading?”
Irfan Ali (@TweetOfIrfan): “Scripted drama! Normally, anyone in the metro would offer a seat to an elderly lady.”
Rao LalSingh (@RaoLalSingh803): “People have lost basic respect for older generations. No one offered her a seat, or she refused it.”
CineCricketChat (@CineCricketChat): “Sleeping partner suddenly standing.”
Rohini Anand (@mrs_roh08): “Yeah, and the Finance Minister couldn’t even say bye to her properly.”
The Poll Boy (@The_Poll_Boy): “Why didn’t anyone offer her a seat? Were they all stock brokers?”
Sunny Raj (Modi ka Parivar) (@sunnyrajbjp): “Simplicity at its best. Modi and his team have shown arrogant opposition leaders how to connect with common people.”
UnknownMan (भारत के अंगरक्षक) (@AlertIndForce): “Heard that lady just received a 1 million INR pending tax notice. #GoodGesture #ElectionTime”
Pandiyarajan (Family of INDIA) (@Aeropandi): “FM hasn’t traveled by metro in the past 10 years. She doesn’t know the routes or rush. Fear of election loss is making her ride the metro.”
Nilanjan Das (@NilanjanDasAITC): “How much was she paid by BJP to enact this scene?”
Yeswanth (యశ్వంత్) (@yeswanth86): “BJP IT Cell.”
DRK (@drkisku1): “Photo session until the end of the election. Great!”
Rajni (@RajniRajni2210): “Is this disrespect or public anger? Change is evident.”
Ranjeet Singh (@ranjeetsmile): “And she asked, ‘aur veere kya haal’?”
The video has sparked a debate on whether this act was a display of simplicity or a political maneuver ahead of the elections.
