New Delhi : Ahead of the impending Assembly Elections in Odisha, the BJP has revealed its lineup of 112 candidates for the forthcoming polls. Among the notable names, Jayanta Kumar Sarangi is slated to contest from Puri, Prakash Chandra Sethi from Cuttack Sadar, and Jagannath Pradhan from Bhubaneswar Central. Notably, Odisha BJP chief Manmohan Samal will vie for Chandabali, while Manoj Kumar Mehar is set to contest from Junagarh.
The Odisha Assembly Elections are scheduled to be conducted in four phases on May 13, 20, 25, and June 1, as per the announcement from the Election Commission. And the results are expected to be declared on June 4, 2024.
In the 2019 elections, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) clinched a decisive victory, securing 112 out of 147 seats, while the BJP and Congress managed to secure 23 and nine seats respectively.

The Election Commission had previously outlined the nomination and withdrawal dates for each phase. For the first phase, nominations can be filed until April 25, with the withdrawal deadline set for April 29. Subsequent phases have corresponding dates: May 3 and May 6 for the second phase, May 6 and May 9 for the third phase, and May 14 for the final phase, with the withdrawal deadline on May 17.

Odisha boasts 147 assembly seats, with a minimum requirement of 74 seats for a party to form the government in the state. The current term of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is set to conclude on June 24, 2024.
