New Delhi, 10 May 2025 –
The announcement of a film titled Operation Sindoor, inspired by India’s recent military action against Pakistan, has sparked outrage on social media. Many users accused the makers of using a sensitive national moment for publicity. In response, film producer Nicky Bhagnani has issued a public apology and clarified the intent behind the project.
Bhagnani, along with director Uttam Maheshwari, said the film was never intended to hurt anyone’s sentiments. According to them, the idea was born out of admiration for the courage and sacrifice of Indian soldiers, not as a means for personal gain or commercial success.

Addressing the criticism, Bhagnani acknowledged that the timing of the announcement may have caused discomfort or appeared insensitive to some. He expressed regret for the unintended impact and emphasized that the film was meant to reflect national pride and respect for the armed forces, not provoke controversy.
He also stated that the film aims to honour the bravery of the Indian military and show the world India’s strength and unity. Expressing gratitude to the armed forces and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bhagnani reiterated his commitment to representing the spirit of the nation responsibly.
The controversy began after the poster of Operation Sindoor was released online, prompting immediate backlash from users who felt that the move was inappropriate given the ongoing sensitivity around the military operation.
