Prime Minister Narendra Modi has criticized the opposition parties for their negative tactics, accusing them of using parliamentary sessions to obscure their shortcomings. During his address marking the beginning of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Monday, Modi condemned the opposition’s efforts to disrupt previous sessions and urged all lawmakers to unite for the progress of nation over the next 5years.
Modi contended that the opposition attempted to silence the government during past sessions, asserting that such actions are incompatible with democratic principles. “It is evident that in the earlier parliamentary session, there was a concerted effort to suppress the voice of a government elected by 140 crore citizens. For two and a half hours, attempts were made to hinder the Prime Minister’s voice. The mandate we received is for the country, not for any particular party. This Parliament is dedicated to the nation, not to individual parties,” Modi stated.
With the Union Budget set to be presented soon, Modi emphasized that it would establish the direction for the next five years and lay the groundwork for realizing the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.
He reassured that his government is making strides in implementing its commitments to the populace. “This is the Budget session, and we are advancing with the implementation of the guarantees we have made,” Modi affirmed.
He further stated, “This Budget holds significant importance during ‘Amrit Kaal’ (a period of growth and prosperity). The next five years are crucial, and this Budget will shape our journey while establishing the foundation for achieving a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”
Modi also described the Budget session as a pivotal point in the esteemed trajectory of Indian democracy. He noted the historic return of the government for a third term after 60 years and highlighted the auspicious start of the session on the first Monday of Sawan, extending his best wishes to the nation.
“This session should be a constructive one, as the entire country is observing,” Modi concluded.
