The Z-Morh Tunnel is set to enhance both civilian and military transportation, bolstering security, stimulating economic activities, and opening up new tourism opportunities in the Ladakh region.
The tunnel features advanced safety measures, including ventilation systems, emergency escape routes, and two parallel traffic tubes, which will not only make travel more efficient but also support the region’s economic growth by enabling uninterrupted trade, improving logistics, and increasing access for tourists.
After the inauguration, PM Modi took to Twitter highlighting its role in enhancing connectivity and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. His tweet read: “Delighted to be amongst the wonderful people of Sonamarg. With the opening of the tunnel here, connectivity will significantly improve and tourism will see a major boost in Jammu and Kashmir.”
