Selfie Point Controversy: Congress Accuses PM Modi of Using Selfie Points as a 'Political Gimmick'

In a strong criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress party has accused him of engaging in political tactics by instructing the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish selfie points in all universities.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh’s Critique
In a post on X, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated, “Our PM, who is obsessed with selfies and self-promotion, is so insecure as the Lok Sabha polls approach that he is doing everything possible to salvage his deteriorating image.”

Taking a swipe at the government, Ramesh remarked, “First, he had the Army set up selfie points. Then, he directed IAS officers and other senior government officials to conduct ‘Rath Yatras’. And now, he has instructed the UGC to establish selfie points in all universities.”

Ramesh claimed that previously, Modi had inserted himself into the live feed of the Chandrayaan-III landing. “Before that, he plastered his face on all COVID-19 vaccine certificates. These are just a few instances reflecting the man’s significant insecurities and the nauseating sycophancy surrounding him,” he added.

“At the tail end of 10 years, the people of India are frankly fed up with this unpleasant level of self-promotion, rivaling only North Korean dictators. The people will respond appropriately very soon,” said the Rajya Sabha MP.
