Sonia Gandhi Admitted for Abdominal Trouble, Now in Stable Condition

Sonia Gandhi, one of India’s most prominent political figures, remains under observation, with doctors closely tracking her health status over the coming days.

Senior Congress Leader and Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Fund, Sonia Gandhi, is currently under observation at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, after being admitted late on Sunday with stomach pain.

The hospital confirmed that 78-year-old, Sonia Gandhi is stable and currently under observation in the Gastroenterology Department. Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of the hospital, confirmed her admission around 9 PM and stated that a specialized team is overseeing her care.

Second Hospital Visit in June

This is Sonia Gandhi’s second hospitalization this month. On June 7, she underwent an MRI scan at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, following complaints of uneasiness. At that time, doctors observed slightly elevated blood pressure, though her overall condition was deemed stable.

Leaders Respond to Sonia Gandhi’s Health Update

News of her condition has drawn attention from senior leaders and officials. Naresh Chauhan, Principal Advisor to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stated that her previous check-up was precautionary in nature. In response to her condition, the Chief Minister cut short his visit to Una and returned to Shimla.

This isn’t the first time Sonia Gandhi has faced gastrointestinal issues. In February 2025, she was admitted briefly to the same Delhi hospital for similar concerns. In September 2022, she had visited the United States for a thorough medical examination with her son, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. That trip led to her missing a substantial part of the Parliament’s monsoon session.

As updates on her condition continue to emerge, party members and well-wishers across the nation have expressed concern and extended heartfelt wishes for her speedy recovery.
