New Delhi: On July 15, popular food delivery platforms Zomato and Swiggy increased their platform fees from Rs 5 to Rs 6 per order. The following day, a customer highlighted a significant price difference between ordering through the Zomato app and purchasing directly from a local restaurant, sparking widespread attention.
The user, Kannan (@Kannan__TS), shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) comparing the costs. He posted a picture showing the total amount charged by the Zomato app versus the cost of purchasing directly from Murugan Idly Shop.
Post of Kannan stated: “My uncle ordered food from Murugan Idly Shop. Notice the price difference between @zomato and the actual cost.”

According to Kannan, purchasing directly from the restaurant saved him approximately Rs 184 compared to ordering through the Zomato app.
In response, Zomato addressed the issue on X, stating: “Hi Kannan, we understand your concern and would like to investigate. Could you please DM us your order ID or registered contact details?”
