#Lok Sabha Elections: Rahul Gandhi Pledges 50% Reservation for Women in Government Positions if Congress Prevails
New Delhi : In a significant declaration ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi, a member of the Congress party, has announced that should the Congress secure victory, it will enact a policy to reserve 50% of government positions for women. Additionally, Gandhi emphasized the transformative potential of empowered women in shaping the nation’s future. He questioned the current employment disparity, highlighting that despite women constituting half of India’s population and representation in higher education, their presence in governmental roles remains disproportionately low.
Gandhi reiterated the Congress’s commitment to achieving gender parity by advocating for immediate implementation of women’s reservation in Parliament and state assemblies. He emphasized that ensuring secure income, stability, and dignity for women would enhance societal strength and contribute significantly to the nation’s progress.
Moreover, Gandhi stressed that having women occupy 50% of government positions would not only empower individual women but also serve as a catalyst for transforming India’s destiny. Hence, the Congress has resolved to allocate half of all new government job recruitments to women.
In a separate development, leaders from various political factions, including Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thakrey, Akhilesh Yadav, and Tejashwi Yadav, among others, affiliated with the INDIA bloc, are slated to participate in an upcoming ‘Maharally’ organized by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at the Ramleela Ground on March 31. This gathering, anticipated to draw over 20,000 attendees, underscores AAP’s support amidst the recent arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The participation of Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, in addressing the rally remains under consideration. Additionally, prominent figures such as Derek O’Brian, Trichi Siva, Farooq Abdullah, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, and Kalpana Soren are expected to join the rally, demonstrating solidarity with AAP and its cause.
