Raksha Bandhan Special: Yogi Government Offers Free Bus Rides for Women Across Uttar Pradesh

In celebration of Raksha Bandhan, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is extending a thoughtful gesture to women across the state by offering complimentary bus services today. From midnight on August 18 through midnight on August 19, women can travel free of charge on state-run buses. To accommodate this initiative, over 300 additional buses have been deployed, with increased service frequency to ensure a smooth and convenient journey for all.

Recognizing the need for extra capacity on busy routes, the government has ordered the deployment of additional buses where demand is highest. Women passengers will also have access to 90 CNG and 35 electric buses as part of this special service.

Early risers in Bhainsali can catch the first bus to Bijnor and Najibabad, which started at 5:30 AM on Sunday, August 18, with departures every 30 minutes until 9 PM. For those heading to Shamli, buses will be available every half hour until 8:30 PM. Meanwhile, travelers on the Meerut-Delhi expressway route will find buses running every 40 minutes.

Delhi Metro Gears Up for Raksha Bandhan: Additional Trains and Services Ready

In anticipation of the Raksha Bandhan rush, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is putting extra measures in place to ensure a smooth travel experience for its passengers. Additional standby trains will be on hand to manage the expected surge in commuters on Monday.

To further ease the flow of passengers, DMRC will deploy extra staff at key stations and open additional ticket counters. To avoid queues, passengers are encouraged to use the DMRC Momentum 2.0 app, WhatsApp, Paytm, One Delhi, or Amazon for online QR ticket purchases, or opt for National Common Mobility Cards/Smart Cards available at customer care centers.
