Rashami Desai has elaborated on her discomfort with an advertisement featuring Ranveer Singh addressing sexual health issues. She took to social media to express her disapproval of the ad, which appeared to parody Hindi soap operas known for their family dramas. In a recent interview, she explained her reservations about the Bold Care ad.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Rashami emphasized the vulnerability of the television industry. She noted that individuals from the film industry often transition to television to capitalize on its extensive reach for promoting their films. However, these same individuals later ridicule the television industry for their own gain. “Television has never depicted such things. People often ridicule the small screen, but they turn to TV for promotion. TV has the widest reach but is also the most demeaned. There’s no balance of respect. It saddened me because I’ve been working here,” she remarked.
As a prominent figure in television, Rashami professed her love for the industry and vowed to always defend it, as it has provided her with opportunities and fame. She acknowledged that her affection for the industry will endure, despite the mockery it often faces. “I initially started with regional films before entering television. The name, fame, money, love, and immense respect I’ve received for my work has come from the TV industry. When you travel abroad, people actually learn about our culture and various other things through television. I hold great respect for television,” she stated.
The controversial ad also features adult star Johnny Stars. Some members of the audience view the ad as a small step towards breaking the taboo surrounding men’s sexual health. Numerous stars from both the TV and film industries have endorsed the ad and commended Ranveer for supporting the cause.
