Richa Chadha Appeals for Kindness Towards Heeramandi Co-Star Sharmin Segal Amid Online Trolling

New Delhi: Actress Richa Chadha has addressed the wave of online hostility directed at her Heeramandi co-star, Sharmin Segal. In a recent Instagram post, Richa shared a screenshot of a particularly harsh comment which stated, “Don’t ever return to that show. It was specifically made for an emotionless hamming nepokid.” Richa responded with a call for empathy, stating, “Kind is cool.” Without directly naming Sharmin, she elaborated, “Over the past month, I have been monitoring and removing negative comments about my co-star from my feed. Constructive criticism is welcome, but the level of hate is excessive.”

Sharmin Segal has since turned off the comments on her Instagram due to the severe trolling. Additionally, she was labeled as “rude” following the circulation of clips from her promotional interviews with co-stars Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Shaikh. Richa addressed these clips in her post, noting, “Disliking someone’s performance is one thing, and that’s your right. But the extent of the trolling is unwarranted. Please? These are out-of-context interview clips, often from a legit roast. Why use them to troll?”

Richa concluded her message by emphasizing the importance of compassion, writing, “It’s easy to get caught up in trends, but using another person as clickbait is unnecessary. We can and should do better. Be kind. It can significantly impact someone’s mental health. There are much larger issues in the world right now. Please move on.”

Sharmin Segal, who has been under intense scrutiny for her role as Alamzeb in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, recently spoke to Pinkvilla about the impact of the negativity. She remarked, “If the feedback is constructive, I’m open to it. However, I also need to focus on the love and positivity I receive. My DMs are filled with supportive messages. Negativity often gets more attention publicly, but there’s a lot of positivity that deserves to be embraced as well.”
