Section 144 Imposed in Noida and Greater Noida Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi and MotoGP Bike Race | Comprehensive List of Restrictions

In anticipation of the upcoming festive season, authorities have implemented preventive measures by invoking Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in Noida and Greater Noida. This move aims to curtail any unlawful gatherings of five or more individuals and unauthorized public events, including religious and political processions.

The decision to enforce Section 144 extends the same restrictions that were previously in effect from September 6 to 15.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (law and order) Hridesh Katheria, in the official order, stated, “Vishwakarma Puja is scheduled for September 17, followed by the Ganesh Chaturthi festival on September 19. Additionally, the International Trade Show at Expo Mart is set to run from September 21 to 25, and the MotoGP Bharat event at the Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida will be held from September 22 to 24.” He also mentioned the possibility of competitive examinations and potential protests, including a ‘Rail Roko’ campaign by farmers and demonstrations by various organizations.

The imposition of Section 144 is a precautionary measure taken to ensure peace and prevent any disturbances by anti-social elements in the area, especially considering the upcoming festivals and events.
