Silambarasan launches audio of ‘Devil’s Double: Next Level’

Actor Silambarasan calls for more light-hearted films and praises Santhanam’s comic timing at audio launch event

The audio of the upcoming Tamil horror-comedy “Devil’s Double: Next Level”, directed by S. Prem Anand and starring Santhanam in the lead, was recently launched by actor Silambarasan. At the event, Silambarasan also spoke about his upcoming film STR 49, in which he will be seen sharing screen space with Santhanam.

Speaking at the event, Silambarasan said that Tamil cinema is currently dominated by action and aggression, and there is a growing lack of light-hearted, feel-good films. “We need more movies that make people happy. Films that bring smiles are missing from our screens. That’s why actors like Santhanam are important. He fits perfectly in such films, which is why he’s part of STR 49,” he said.

He also praised the editor of Devil’s Double: Next Level, who earlier worked on Tourist Family, a film Silambarasan described as refreshing and well-made. “We need more of those—films made with heart, that people can enjoy with a smile,” he added.

Talking about Santhanam, Silambarasan said audiences still remember and miss his comic roles. “He shouldn’t limit himself to playing the lead. If a film offers a good comedy role, he should take it. His timing and presence still matter on screen,” he said.

Silambarasan also shared a personal note on his bond with Santhanam. “When I was asked to attend this event, I agreed without thinking twice. That’s the kind of understanding we have. If I called him for a film, he’d agree even without reading the script. That’s what real friendship looks like,” he said.

While STR 49 is one of the most anticipated forthcoming Tamil films, Devil’s Double: Next Level will reintroduce Santhanam to his hallmark comic approach, hoping to reconnect fans with the comedy that previously defined mainstream Tamil cinema.
