Spider-Man 4: Officially Titled Brand New Day, Filming Starts This Summer

Sony unveils the next chapter of the Spider-Man saga, with new cast additions and a fresh storyline set to hit theaters in 2026.

The Spider-Man franchise is swinging back into action as Sony officially announces the title of its fourth installment: Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The news was revealed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where director Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed that filming is set to begin later this summer.

While lead actor Tom Holland was unable to attend the event in person, he appeared via video message to express his enthusiasm for the project. “I wish I could be there, but I’m currently on the other side of the world filming a movie,” Holland said. “I know No Way Home left everyone on a massive cliffhanger, but Brand New Day is precisely what it sounds like—a fresh start. That’s all I can say for now, and don’t worry, I’m past my spoiler phase!”

A new chapter for Spider-Man

Details about the plot remain under wraps, but Cretton offered some insight into the creative direction of the film. “Every day, we are exploring the next stage of this iconic character, working with some of the most talented artists in the industry,” he said. “We’re focused on crafting a story that’s not only emotional but also delivers action and spectacle in a way audiences haven’t seen before.”

The release date for this movie is scheduled for July 31, 2026.

Returning Cast & New Additions

Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, Peter Parker’s closest friends. Meanwhile, Stranger Things star Sadie Sink comes in as an undeclared cast member. The theory speculates that she would take on Jean Grey’s role from X-Men, though previously, the character was played by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner.

A Billion-Dollar Franchise

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies run away in box-office records. Spider-Man: Homecoming grossed $880 million worldwide in 2017; Far from Home made more than $1.13 billion in 2019; last year, No Way Home set records for the early months of the post-pandemic world, collecting an impressive $1.9 billion globally.

Sony aims to continue the franchise’s successful epic run with Spider-Man: Brand New Day and embark on an exciting fresh adventure for Peter Parker that the fans would surely not want to miss
