Smriti Mandhana Surpasses Laura Wolvaardt to Claim No. 1 Spot in ICC ODI Rankings of Women
New Delhi – 17 June 2025
Smriti Mandhana has regained the No. 1 spot in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, returning to the top for the first time since November 2019. The 28-year-old left-handed opener climbed one spot to surpass South African captain Laura Wolvaardt, who had been leading the charts for the past six months.
Mandhana now holds the top position with 727 rating points, cementing her place as one of the most consistent and impactful batters in women’s cricket. Her elevation in rankings comes on the back of a stellar performance in the recently concluded tri-series in Colombo, involving India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa, where she scored her 11th career century.
Wolvaardt Slips to Joint Second; Brits, Campbell, and Joseph Make Gains
Wolvaardt dropped to joint second place alongside England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt after a modest showing in the ongoing ODI series against West Indies, where she managed scores of 27 and 28 in the first two matches.
Other notable movements in the rankings include South Africa’s Tazmin Brits, who jumped five spots to reach 27th position following a half-century in the series opener. Her performance helped South Africa level the series with a 40-run win in the second ODI in Barbados.
In the latest rankings, Shemaine Campbelle rise to No. 62 with a seven-place gain, and Qiana Joseph surged 12 spots to 67th following her crucial 60-run innings in the series opener. South African veteran Sune Luus also made a comeback with a solid 76-run innings in the second ODI, helping her move up seven places to 42nd in the rankings.
Bowlers’ Chart: Fletcher Rises; Ecclestone Retains Top Spot
In the bowling rankings, West Indies spinner Afy Fletcher surged four places to take the 19th spot after claiming four wickets in the second ODI. However, England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to dominate the top of the ICC Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings.
