‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale’ is the high-profile title of an upcoming docuseries that seeks to peel back the layers of mystery surrounding South India’s very own Lady Superstar, responsible for keeping her personal life mysterious. The trailer was unveiled on Saturday.

The trailer dropped for the Netflix documentary, titled Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. The docuseries peeks into the personal life of Nayanthara. A very popular yet successful actress of India, Nayanthara kept her private life under wraps for many years with as much confidence and mystery as her characters on screen and, just recently, at the end of last year, after a quiet, transformed, and yet incredibly electric floral inspiration for building her own lifelike star image, she set foot on Insta. Beyond the Fairy Tale is set to be an intimate and unrelenting viewpoint on the woman behind the rumor, revealing different aspects of her life she has been keeping to herself for long.

Nayanthara was a girl with middle-class aspirations; she has now reached an exalted position in the industry. With the frank and intimate accounts shared by some of her close friends—stars like Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu, and Nagarjuna Akkineni, along with her beloved family telling stories—the series depicts the passion, resilience, and devotion that drive the ‘Lady Superstar.’ For the first time, we witnessed her not as an idol but as a daughter, sister, wife, and mother, a story with many layers of intrigue.

The trailer underscores how Nayanthara has resolutely retained her identity. In an amusing tone, actor Rana Daggubati, who co-starred with her in ‘Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum,’ defined her to be a ‘thug’, stating that she has never wavered from her strong, asserting, and distinguished nature. Actor Nagarjuna, who happened to have worked with her in ‘Greeku Veerudu,’ remembers the depth of challenges she faced in life a few years back. The much-heralded marriage with filmmaker Vignesh, where industry icons like Shah Rukh Khan and Mani Ratnam graced the occasion, showcases itself in the trailer.
Nayanthara calls this documentary as a gift to the fans
In a personal note, Nayanthara says about what this documentary means to her: “I have shared my life and journey with the world at large, and this documentary is a gift from me to the fans — a glimpse into the series of events that made me who I am. It has been an out-and-out labour of love, and I can’t wait for them to see this side of my world. I would like to thank all my fans for standing by me in everything; I hope you enjoy it just like I did!”
Vignesh Shivan, who has stood by Nayanthara through the many ups and downs of her journey, with great pride expressed his respect as such, “Nayanthara is not only my wife and my best friend but someone I respect immensely. She has faced every challenge with strength and resilience, growing with every moment. I am extremely proud of her, and I’m so happy that with this film she will now reach her fans as a human with so much depth beyond the glamour.”
Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale would premiere on Netflix India on November 18, coinciding perfectly with Nayanthara’s 40th birthday celebrations.
