
Paris Olympics 2024: At the Paris Olympics, India won another medal from the shooting range thanks to Swapnil Kusale from the Pune Railway Division.

Swapnil Kusale won India its third medal at the Paris Olympics after claiming a bronze medal in the 50m rifle 3 position event on Thursday. He shot a score of 451.4, to finish behind China’s Yukun Liu (gold) and Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish.
Swapnil Kusale broke a pattern of outcomes by earning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics after finishing fourth at the World Championships and the Asian Games. But he finishes third in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Swapnil Kusale works as a Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) with the Pune Railway Division. Born in 1995 from an agrarian household, Swapnil Kusale’s father registered him in the Maharashtra government’s Krida Prabhodini elementary sports programme. When it came time for him to pick a sport after a year of intense physical training, he decided on shooting.

At the 2015 Asian Shooting Championships in Kuwait, Swapnil Kusale took home the gold medal in the junior division’s 50-meter rifle prone 3.
In the 50m rifle prone event, he also won over Gagan Narang and Chain Singh at the 59th National Shooting Championship, which was held in Tughlakabad. He won a gold medal in the 50-meter rifle third position at the 61st National Championship in Thiruvananthapuram, repeating the same performance.
Swapnil Kusale Achievements:
World Championship, Cairo (2022): Secured a gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle team event.
World University Games, Chengdu (2021): Took home a gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle individual event.
IISSF World Cup, Changwon (2022): Earned two gold medals in the individual and men’s team events.
Asian Championship, Korea (2023): Won a silver medal in the individual 10m air rifle competition, guaranteeing the country a spot in the Olympics in 2024.
