The Taylor Swift Eras Tour concerts scheduled in Vienna have been canceled following the Austrian police’s successful prevention of a planned terrorist attack linked to ISIS. The concerts were to be held at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Barracuda Music, the event organizer, announced the cancellations on Wednesday evening, citing the confirmation from government officials about the planned attack as the reason for prioritizing everyone’s safety. Taylor Nation, Swift’s official Instagram account, also shared the update. All ticket holders will receive automatic refunds within the next 10 business days, and further details are available on Swift’s website.
Austrian authorities arrested two suspects on Wednesday, August 7, in connection with the planned attack. The arrests followed a raid that uncovered chemicals and substances believed to be intended for making explosives. The suspects included a 19-year-old man living with his parents near Vienna.
The Eras Tour, which began in Glendale, Arizona, on March 18, 2023, has spanned several continents, including North America, South America, Asia, and Australia, and is currently in its European leg. The Vienna concerts were the penultimate shows in Europe before Swift’s five-night performance at London’s Wembley Stadium next week.
The cancellation has left many fans disappointed, especially those who had traveled to Vienna specifically for the concert.
