Terror hideout busted in Poonch; Pakistan continues firing along LoC

Firing along LoC: Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, security forces in South Kashmir have intensified counter-insurgency operations. The Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Special Operations Group (SOG) have launched extensive search missions across dense forests and surrounding areas. Drones and video surveillance are being used to monitor any movement of suspected militants.
In a significant breakthrough, a terrorist hideout was busted late Sunday night in the Marhot area of Surankote tehsil in Poonch district during a joint search operation by the Army, police, and SOG. Security forces recovered five IEDs, a wireless communication set, and some clothing from the location. The recovered materials have been seized, and authorities are investigating which terrorist group was operating from the site and when the hideout was established.

After the Pahalgam attack, security forces have expanded search and surveillance operations across eight sensitive districts: Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Tral, Sopore, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora.
Meanwhile, Pakistan continues its unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC). On Monday, for the 11th consecutive day, Pakistani troops targeted Indian forward posts with small arms fire. According to a statement by the Ministry of Defence, the firing took place during the night of May 4–5 across multiple sectors, including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor. The Indian Army responded swiftly and accurately.
In retaliation to Pakistan’s persistent provocations, the Indian government has taken a series of strong measures. These include expelling Pakistani nationals from Indian territory, sealing the Attari-Wagah border crossing, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, banning Pakistani commercial flights from Indian airspace, and halting all trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
