New Delhi : A 23-year-old woman named Shweta Survase tragically died after reversing her car off a 300-foot cliff in Maharashtra’s Chattrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Reportedly, Shweta had never driven a car before and was filming videos for social media when the accident occurred. Her friend, Suraj Sanjau Mule, captured the incident on camera as he recorded her driving lesson.
In the video, Shweta is seen in the driver’s seat while her friend Suraj, 25, records the scene. The two had traveled from Aurangabad to Sulibhanjan Hills on a Monday afternoon.
Shweta was trying to drive while her friend recorded her. She accidentally pressed the accelerator while the car was in reverse, causing the vehicle to slide back, break through a crash barrier, and plunge into the valley. It took rescuers an hour to reach her and the car, and she was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital, according to a Khutabad police station official.
Despite being 50 meters away from the cliff initially, the car’s speed increased as she reversed. Mule, who was recording, can be heard shouting, “Clutch, clutch, clutch,” trying to warn her. He ran to stop her, but the car ultimately fell into the gorge, resulting in Shweta’s death.
The car rolled down the 300-foot cliff and into the gorge, with visuals showing the mangled remains of the vehicle. Sulibhanjan Hills, known for its picturesque scenery, attracts many tourists, especially during the rainy season.
