A tragic road accident claimed two lives and left another severely injured as a motorcycle crashed into a parapet wall on a flyover in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday night.
The horrifying incident was captured on CCTV cameras and has since circulated widely on social media. The footage depicts a speeding motorcycle colliding with the side wall of the NAD flyover in Visakhapatnam. The force of the impact sends the riders plummeting from the flyover to the road below.
Authorities responded swiftly to the accident, transporting the injured to King George Hospital. Regrettably, two of them succumbed to their injuries, while the third is undergoing treatment for severe wounds.
According to police reports, the motorcycle rider was traveling at excessive speed, ultimately losing control and crashing into the flyover wall. The mishap occurred late Saturday night, purportedly as the trio were returning home from a birthday celebration.
The deceased have been identified as Thanavarapu Kumar and A Pavan Kumar, both residents of Visakhapatnam.
While local media suggested the involvement of alcohol, this has yet to be confirmed. Notably, two-wheelers are prohibited from using the NAD flyover, with signage warning bikers of its unsuitability for their vehicles, which are typically reserved for heavier traffic like trucks.
