Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have taken on leadership roles in the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — and they’re doing it for free. The department, created as part of President-elect Donald Trump’s “Save America” initiative, is focused on reducing waste, streamlining federal agencies, and cutting down on bureaucratic red tape.

Their high-profile, unpaid appointments drew comments from Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who questioned the efficiency of assigning two leaders to a role she suggested could be done by one. Musk responded by pointing out that neither he nor Ramaswamy would be drawing a paycheck, aligning with the department’s mission to reduce government costs.

The project’s timeline aligns with Trump’s vision of presenting a more efficient government by July 4, 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Musk and Ramaswamy’s work in DOGE aims to make a lasting impact on government accountability and operations efficiency.
