Will Hemant Soren Face Arrest? ED Officials Visit Jharkhand CM’s Residence in Delhi After He Ignores Summons 9 Times

A team of officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) visited the official residence of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged land scam. Visuals shared by news agency ANI depicted officials at the residence of Jharkhand’s Hemant Soren in the national capital. Reports suggest that the ED team is expected to interrogate Hemant Soren regarding a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam.

Last week, the ED issued a fresh summons to Hemant Soren, urging him to participate in the investigation into the money laundering case in the upcoming week. Soren, who has ignored the ED’s summons nine times, has been instructed to confirm his availability for questioning on either January 29 or 31.

On January 25, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren responded to the summons issued by the Directorate of Enforcement, as per sources from ANI. The Chief Minister stated that he had received the agency’s letter and would respond in due course.

The ED had issued Soren the ninth summons on January 13, directing him to make himself available for questioning between January 27 and 31 in the case.

In the meantime, on January 20, the Enforcement Directorate arrived in Ranchi to interrogate the Jharkhand Chief Minister in the land scam case.

Earlier this month, Soren wrote to the federal agency, suggesting that it could record his statement in the land scam case at his official residence on January 20. The ED issued Soren the eighth summons on January 13, instructing him to participate in the investigation between January 16 and 20.

Previously, the ED had issued a summons to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s press advisor, Abhishek Prasad, to join its investigation on January 16 into an alleged money laundering probe linked to an illegal mining case.

The central agency concluded its day-long search of CM Hemant Soren’s media advisor Abhishek Prasad’s residence in Ranchi earlier on 3rd January. Notably, this is the tenth summons in the land scam case.
