MERI College Opens AICTE-Sponsored Studio Innovation Programme

Experts Highlight the Role of AR, VR, AI in Expanding Media Accessibility

New Delhi, August 5, 2025

The Management Education and Research Institute (MERI), Janakpuri, inaugurated a week-long Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Innovative Studio Techniques in Film and Video Communication’, sponsored by the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy. Organized by MERI’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell, the programme aims to provide participants with practical exposure to emerging studio technologies, enabling them to bridge theoretical concepts with industry-oriented skills. The FDP will run until August 9, 2025.

The inaugural session featured distinguished speakers and media experts. Prof. (Dr.) Durgesh Tripathi, Dean, University School of Mass Communication, GGSIPU, emphasized how cutting-edge studio techniques are revolutionizing media accessibility and content delivery. Highlighting the success of animated productions like Ramayana, he underlined the significance of AR, VR, and other immersive technologies in reshaping the media landscape and creating new job opportunities. Dr. Tripathi also stressed the critical role of research in driving innovation in the creative industries.

The second session was conducted by Dr. Dilip Kumar, Regional Director, IIMC Jammu, who offered an in-depth look into virtual production and volumetric video technologies. Through multimedia demonstrations, Dr. Kumar illustrated the relevance of these tools in modern filmmaking and content creation. He also explored the growing impact of artificial intelligence in streamlining film production processes and enhancing storytelling.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Khurana, Advisor, MERI College, who greeted the dignitaries and participating faculty members. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Deepshikha Kalra, Dean, MERI College, who acknowledged the contributions of the speakers, technical team, and organizing committee.

The FDP has attracted enthusiastic participation from faculty members across various colleges and universities, fostering knowledge exchange and professional development in the evolving field of media and communication.
