AI and Aerospace Lead the Way

Among existing courses, two stood out with significant growth in demand:

The five-year Aerospace Engineering programme saw its choice count rise from 9,505 in 2024 to 11,069 in 2025, an increase of 16.45%.

The BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics grew from 20,323 to 23,015 choices, a jump of 13.25%.

This trend shows a balance between futuristic fields like AI, which remain highly popular, and traditional areas like Aerospace, which are once again gaining strong interest.

Rising Demand Across All Courses

What makes the data more impressive is that every single programme at IIT Madras recorded growth, ranging from 8% to 16%. Experts believe this reflects the institute’s strong reputation, cutting-edge research facilities, and excellent placement opportunities, making it the top dream destination for engineering students across the country.
