On Women Farmers’ Day, DD Kisan highlights inspiring journeys of progressive women farmers, their struggles, successes, and contributions, along with a vibrant Rajasthani cultural performance by Gulabo Sapera.

To commemorate Women Farmers’ Day on 15th October, DD Kisan will broadcast a special program dedicated to celebrating the remarkable journeys of women farmers across India. The program aims to highlight their perseverance, achievements, and significant contributions to agriculture. This year marks the tenth observance of Women Farmers’ Day, first celebrated in 2016.
The recording of the program at DD Kisan studio was attended by leading figures from the agriculture and broadcasting sectors, who extended their greetings and best wishes to the women farmers. Among the dignitaries present were Prasar Bharati Chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal, CEO Gaurav Dwivedi, Doordarshan Director General K. Satish Nambudripad, DD Kisan Deputy Director Lokman Singh, and Deputy Director & Program Head Rajkumar Nahar.
The special broadcast will feature eminent women farmers including Padma Shri Rajkumari Devi (popularly known as Kisan Chachi), Padma Shri Kamatchi Chellammal (Nariyal Amma), Vimala Sinwar, India’s first “Namo Drone Didi,” agricultural entrepreneur Annu Kanawat, Padma Shri Janak Palta for her work in energy conservation, and Renu Sangwan for her contributions to dairy farming. Their stories reflect resilience, innovation, and the transformative role of women in India’s agricultural landscape.
Adding a rich cultural touch, the program will feature a lively Kalbelia folk dance performance by Padma Shri Gulabo Sapera, bringing the vibrancy of Rajasthani tradition to the audience and celebrating the country’s diverse heritage.
This special program not only honors the achievements of women farmers but also aims to inspire the next generation to take pride in agriculture and continue India’s legacy of farming excellence.
