As September approaches its end in a few days, it is essential to be aware that banks will be closed for four days starting this week. The Reserve Bank of India has issued a holiday schedule, and the specific days off may vary from state to state. In total, September had 16 bank holidays, including Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.
Several cities across India will experience bank holidays due to various festivals and regional celebrations. However, it’s worth noting that bank branches will not be closed for these festive occasions.
While bank branches are closed, online banking services will continue to function seamlessly, allowing customers to carry out banking transactions, check balances, and perform essential banking tasks.
The Reserve Bank of India classifies bank holidays into three categories: holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
It’s important to mention that bank holidays differ from state to state, as they depend on the festivals or specific occasions being observed in each state.
