The suspense surrounding the Chief Ministerial candidate for Madhya Pradesh is set to conclude today as BJP observers, including Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, BJP MP KLaxman, and party leader Asha Lakra, met with one of the contenders, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, at his residence on Monday. This meeting occurred just hours before the crucial party legislature meeting convened to decide on the next Chief Minister. The announcement of the CM’s name is anticipated later in the evening.
State party chief VD Sharma and other leaders warmly greeted the observers at Bhopal airport. Following the reception, the three observers proceeded to the Chief Minister’s residence to confer with Shivraj Singh Chouhan. As per the schedule provided to the MLAs, the meeting is scheduled to commence at 4 pm today.
The state BJP office was adorned with flowers and posters featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by the slogan “MP ke Man Mein Modi, Desh Ke Man Mein Modi.”
Meanwhile, the BJP secured victory in Madhya Pradesh during the November 17 election, securing 163 seats in the 230-member Assembly, while the Congress was reduced to 66 seats. The party’s central observers, Khattar, OBC Morcha head K Laxman, and secretary Asha Lakra, arrived in the state capital Bhopal via a special plane around 11:30 am.
Prahlad Singh Patel, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narendra Singh Tomar, and Kailash Vijayvargiya are among the potential candidates for the Chief Minister’s position in the state following Chouhan.
