Bobby Deol defends the portrayal of a marital rape scene in the film “Animal,” asserting that he doesn’t believe movies can influence people. In response to questions about whether films, especially in a country like India where actors are revered, have an impact on the audience, Bobby Deol rejects the idea, stating that filmmakers draw inspiration from society to create stories.
Deol, who gained popularity for his role in the film alongside Ranbir Kapoor, contends that “Animal” is not promoting harmful behavior but rather creating awareness about the existence of cruelty in the world. He explains that scenes like the marital rape sequence were necessary to depict the depth of the character’s cruelty and capabilities within a limited timeframe.
Refusing to read movie reviews, Deol considers them a “waste of energy.” He emphasizes that as an actor, he doesn’t get influenced by films and points out that successful projects like his web series “Aashram” featuring problematic characters also contribute to entertainment without promoting negative behavior. In essence, Bobby Deol maintains that films, including “Animal,” are a reflection of societal issues and are not intended to endorse or encourage harmful actions.
