Chartered Accountancy Exams to Be Held Three Times a Year Starting 2024

New Delhi: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has made a significant decision to increase the frequency of Chartered Accountancy (CA) exams to three times a year, starting from 2024. This decision was announced during the 430th meeting of the ICAI held on March 7, 2024, in New Delhi.

The council has chosen to schedule the exams in January, May/June, and September. Previously, the exams were only held in May/June and January. This change will apply to both Intermediate and Foundation courses.

According to an official statement from the ICAI, “To better accommodate students, Intermediate and Foundation course examinations will now be held three times a year in January, May/June, and September. Previously, both exams were conducted twice annually. Globally, exams are held more frequently to provide students with increased opportunities to sit for them. In alignment with this trend, the ICAI is adopting international best practices.”

This decision offers students more chances to sit for exams and reduces the gap between exams from six months to four months.

The official release from the ICAI highlights the benefits for students who have completed their study period and are eager to take the exam without waiting an additional two months.

For the upcoming May/June 2024 exams, approximately 436,500 students have already enrolled.
