Delhi Launches All-in-One Ticket for Seamless Multi-Mode Commuting

In a groundbreaking move set to redefine the daily commute for Delhi residents, the city has introduced a pioneering “single-journey ticket” that seamlessly integrates auto rickshaws, taxis, metro, and buses. No longer will commuters need to juggle separate tickets or payment methods for different modes of transportation. This innovative system, currently undergoing a seven-day trial run through a collaboration between Tummoc and the Delhi government, promises to streamline the entire commuting experience.

The trial, launched on January 17, invites feedback from users as it seeks to revolutionize how people travel from home to work and back. The partnership between Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Tummoc travel app eliminates the need to visit multiple platforms for bus tickets or cab bookings, marking a significant leap toward digitizing the city’s transport services.

Delhi Transport Secretary-cum-Commissioner Ashish Kundra, in an announcement on social media, emphasized the system’s integration of the “first mile” (home to metro station/bus stop) and the “last mile” from the metro station and bus stop, consolidating the entire journey under a single digital ticket. Encouraging users to embrace the digital shift, Kundra stated, “Delhi transport goes digital. Urging all users to give it a try.”

The Delhi Transport Corporation echoed the enthusiasm in a social media post, declaring the collaboration with Tummoc to introduce digital DTC passes and the innovative “All-in-One Ticket.” As the trial progresses, commuters can explore and provide feedback on the new features.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use the system:

  1. Commence Your Travel Itinerary: Initiate your journey by specifying your point of departure, such as your residence, and designate the desired destination, ranging from a restaurant to a friend’s house.
  2. Determine Your Preferred Transportation: Choose the most suitable form of travel, whether it’s utilizing DTC bus services, relying on metro transit, hiring a dedicated taxi service, or opting for an auto-rickshaw.
  3. Evaluate the Accessibility of Stations: Consider station accessibility when selecting DTC bus services or metro transit. If stations are not within walking distance, the app allows you to seamlessly book a cab or an auto for the initial and final legs of your journey.
  4. Pre-Book Your Ride: Whether it’s a cab or an auto, the app enables you to pre-book your rides before leaving home, eliminating the need to search for transport options after reaching the last bus stopage or metro station.
  5. The platform is already fully integrated with all public buses and the Delhi Metro. Plans are underway to expand its reach by incorporating app-based transport service providers, steadily increasing the pool of available autos and taxis.

Tummoc, with a user base exceeding 30 lakh and a presence in 21 cities, has been at the forefront of digitizing transit services across the country. Notably, the app emerged as a winner in the STAMP Challenge for Delhi in 2022, introducing digital bus passes for DTC buses, digital QR tickets for DMRC, and now the groundbreaking “All-in-One Ticket” for seamless multi-mode commuting. As Delhi embraces this digital transformation, the innovative ticketing system is poised to reshape the daily travel experience for millions of residents.
