The Executive Council of Delhi University has passed a budget proposal of Rs 1,717.45 crore for the academic session 2024-25. This budget includes various developmental projects, such as the installation of a CCTV surveillance system on campus. The decision was made during an executive council meeting held on Friday.

A portion of the budget, amounting to Rs 154.88 crore, has been allocated for the procurement of books, journals, laboratory equipment, classroom furniture, computers, campus development, CCTV surveillance, and other capital assets. Additionally, Rs 553.95 crore has been earmarked for employee salaries, Rs 935.26 crore for academic and non-academic vacancies, and Rs 627.31 crore for pension, non-salary items, non-net fellowship, and higher educational financing agency expenses.

Furthermore, the council approved several policy proposals benefiting students. This includes a 75 percent fee concession for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) seeking admission to PhD programs. Additionally, special provisions were made for students affected by COVID-19 disruptions, including a 10-mark moderation in one subject and an opportunity for those who missed exams between the 2021-22 and 2022-23 sessions to complete their degrees.

Moreover, guidelines were established for granting study leave to DU faculty members pursuing PhD degrees from foreign universities. The council also extended the validity of two MPhil courses until 2025-26, as per UGC regulations, and sanctioned additional vacancies for the upcoming Faculty of Technology.
