Employee’s Bold Response to Company’s Office-Only Policy Goes Viral

Viral Post: When the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the globe, almost every institution and office transitioned to remote work to ensure the safety of their staff and adhere to lockdown mandates. While initially challenging, both employers and employees gradually adapted to this new way of working.

With the pandemic now under control and restrictions lifted, many employers are eager to have their teams return to the office. However, the convenience and flexibility of working from home have left many employees reluctant to go back.

One particularly frustrated employee, unhappy with his company’s strict “no work from home” policy, took to Reddit to share his story. The post quickly gained attention, with a screenshot shared on X by BladeoftheSun @BladeoftheS, captioned: “Seems fair to me.”

In his viral Reddit post, the employee, who works in IT and typically operates remotely, described his reaction to his company’s demands. In response to being required to be physically present in the office, he decided to remove email and Teams from his phone, effectively making himself unreachable after work hours.

“My job recently told me that even during the snowstorm we got earlier this week, I am not allowed to work from home at all. Even though I work in IT and do everything remotely, they want me in the office. So, I deleted Teams and my email off my phone. I am no longer available after hours. My boss tried to call me for something urgent last night and couldn’t reach me. He asked why today and I explained to him what was told. I am not allowed to work from home,” his Reddit post reads.
