In an exciting development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a significant enhancement for Indian students pursuing a master’s degree in France. They will now be granted an extended post-study visa, spanning a remarkable five years. This comes as a considerable upgrade from the previous provision, which allowed for a two-year work visa.
The announcement was made by PM Modi during his address to the vibrant Indian community at LA Seine Musicale in Paris. The crowd welcomed him with great enthusiasm and warmth, creating a gala-like atmosphere.
Reflecting on the progress made, PM Modi stated, “During my previous visit to France, it was decided that Indian students studying there would receive a 2-year post-study work visa. Now, I am delighted to announce that Indian students pursuing their Masters in France will be granted a long-term post-study visa, valid for an impressive 5 years.”
PM Modi, who embarked on a two-day official visit to Paris, received a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival at the airport. French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne extended a warm greeting to him, setting a positive tone for the visit.
The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of his trip, remarking, “This visit holds special importance as France is celebrating its National Day. I extend my congratulations to the people on this joyous occasion.”
During his stay, PM Modi will be attending the National Day Parade of France alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, which symbolizes the unbreakable friendship shared between India and France.
Additionally, PM Modi commended India’s progress in the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system. He revealed that an agreement has been reached to implement India’s UPI in France, starting with the iconic Eiffel Tower. This collaboration will enable Indian tourists to make payments in Indian Rupees through UPI while visiting the iconic landmark.
Furthermore, PM Modi shed light on the lesser-known fact that India and France have been engaged in archaeological missions for an extended period, with their reach expanding from Chandigarh to Ladakh. Strengthening ties in the digital infrastructure sector also serves as another foundation for the deepening relationship between India and France.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to France is especially significant as he has been invited as the Guest of Honour to attend the Bastille Day Parade, an invitation extended by President Emmanuel Macron. The visit also commemorates the 25th anniversary of the India-France Strategic Partnership, adding an extra layer of significance to this joyous occasion.
