In their first telephone conversation since a diplomatic deal brokered by China to restore relations between Tehran and Riyadh, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
According to Iranian state media, Raisi and the Saudi crown prince emphasized the importance of putting an end to war crimes committed against Palestine. In response, the Saudi crown prince affirmed that Saudi Arabia is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts with international and regional stakeholders to halt the escalating conflict, as reported by the Saudi state news agency SPA. He also reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to avoiding any harm to civilians.
In March, Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to mend their diplomatic ties following seven years of hostility, a development facilitated by China. The rapprochement aimed to restore stability and security in the Gulf region and contribute to reducing conflicts in the broader Middle East, including those in Yemen and Syria.
