The Election Commission of India has completed the vote count for the seven-phased Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The BJP-led NDA, although falling short of the majority mark with 240 seats, will form the government with the support of NDA allies, securing a total of 294 seats. Meanwhile, the INDIA Bloc surprised many by securing 234 seats, just shy of the majority.

Four candidates, all aged 25, are set to become the youngest Members of Parliament (MPs) in India, representing different political parties – Samajwadi Party (SP), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), and the Indian National Congress (INC). Let’s take a closer look at these candidates:

Pushpenda Saroj: Representing the Samajwadi Party (SP) from the Kaushambi parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Pushpendra Saroj, aged 25, emerged victorious, defeating BJP’s Vinod Kumar Sonkar by a significant margin of over one lakh votes. He is the son of former UP minister Inderjit Saroj.

Priya Saroj: Daughter of three-time Member of Parliament (MP) Toofani Saroj, Priya Saroj played a vital role in the SP-Congress Alliance’s victory in Uttar Pradesh, winning from the Machhlishahr seat with a margin of 35,850 votes against BJP MP Bholanath.

Shambhavi Choudhary: Contesting from the Lok Janata Dal (LJD) in the Samastipur Constituency in Bihar, Shambhavi Choudhary defeated JD(U) minister Maheshwar Hazari’s son Sunny Hazari of Congress by a considerable margin. She is the daughter of Bihar’s Nitish Kumar Cabinet Minister Ashok Choudhary and earned recognition from PM Modi as the youngest NDA candidate.

Sanjana Jatav: Contesting from the Bharatpur constituency in Rajasthan, Sanjana Jatav secured victory with a margin of 51,983 votes, defeating BJP’s Ramswaroop Koli. Married to Rajasthan police constable Kaptan Singh, Sanjana Jatav, aged 26, also contested in the 2023 Assembly Elections but narrowly lost to BJP’s Ramesh Khedi by just 409 votes.

Among other significant candidates in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Rahul Gandhi secured victories from both Raebareli and Wayanad by a large margin, PM Narendra Modi won from Varanasi for the third consecutive time, Smriti Irani lost to Kishori Lal Sharma in Amethi, Amit Shah emerged victorious from Gandhinagar, and Akhilesh Yadav won from Kannauj.
