Nina Singh Makes History as First Woman Chief of CISF; Key Appointments in Central Paramilitary Forces

Nina Singh has become the first woman to be appointed as the Chief of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), while Anish Dayal Singh is the new Chief of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Rahul Rasgotra is set to lead the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

Three officers from the Manipur cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS) were designated as chiefs of various central paramilitary forces. Rahul Rasgotra, known for his expertise in the Intelligence Bureau, is now in charge of ITBP, while Nina Singh, a 1989-batch IPS officer, has made history by heading CISF. Anish Dayal Singh, previously the Chief of ITBP, has been appointed as the Director General of CRPF.

Nina Singh, hailing from Bihar, is currently serving as the Special Director General of CISF, overseeing security at airports, Delhi Metro, government buildings, and strategic locations nationwide. She entered the IPS as a Manipur-cadre officer and later moved to the Rajasthan cadre. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved her appointment as the DG, CISF until her superannuation on July 31, 2024.

Anish Dayal Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Director General of CRPF, in addition to his recent role as DG, ITBP. He will hold this position until his superannuation on December 31, 2024.

Rahul Rasgotra, a 1989-batch IPS officer of Manipur cadre, has been appointed as the Director General of ITBP. He has a distinguished career in the Intelligence Bureau, with notable contributions in Jammu and Kashmir and the restructuring of the multi-agency centre (MAC) after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. His appointment is effective until September 30, 2025.

Vivek Srivastava, a 1989-batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre and current Special Director in IB, is appointed as the Director General of Fire Service, Civil Defence, and Home Guards until his superannuation on June 30, 2025. Notably, he played a crucial role in the operation leading to the arrest of Yaseen Bhatkal, a founder member of Indian Mujahideen (IM).
