Noida Faces Coldest Day, Cold Wave to Continue; Advisory Issued Across Delhi-NCR

Noida has issued an advisory after experiencing the coldest day of the season, with a temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius recorded on Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the cold wave will persist for the coming days. In Noida, the maximum temperature dropped significantly from 15.3 degrees to 12.5 degrees Celsius within a day.

Ghaziabad also witnessed a decrease in both minimum and maximum temperatures, recording 6.9 and 11.5 degrees Celsius, respectively, compared to the previous day’s 8.4 and 14.3 degrees Celsius.

According to IMD updates, the minimum temperature is expected to remain between 6-9 degrees Celsius in the next few days, with visibility around 200 meters. Skymet Weather Services suggests that cold to severe cold-day conditions may continue in Delhi-NCR.

IMD forecasts shallow fog for Thursday morning and anticipates mostly clear skies later in the day.

Responding to the cold wave, the Noida administration issued an advisory, urging people to take precautions. Recommendations include staying updated on weather conditions through television and newspapers, wearing warm clothing for protection, and consulting a doctor in case of health issues.

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, with the IMD forecasting a maximum of around 20 degrees Celsius. The IMD predicts extreme cold conditions in Delhi, with the minimum temperature expected to touch 7 degrees Celsius on January 3.

The Met Department reported poor visibility in various locations, including Delhi, resulting in delays for several flights at the Indira Gandhi International airport. Additionally, Indian Railways stated that 26 trains arrived late in Delhi due to foggy conditions. This included trains such as Bhopal-Nizamuddin, Bangalore-Nizamuddin, and Howrah-New Delhi Duronto, among others.
