In anticipation of the NCP Chief Sharad Pawar’s rally in Beed, Maharashtra today, banners have been displayed by a faction led by party rebel Ajit Pawar. These banners welcome the senior Pawar and ask for his blessings for his politically estranged nephew.
Banners featuring both the Pawars have been placed throughout Beed ahead of Sharad Pawar’s rally in Parli. This development occurs amidst a verbal conflict between Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction and other parties within the state opposition alliance known as Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes the Congress and the Shiv Sena (UBT). The disagreement stems from a “secret” meeting that occurred between the two Pawars on August 12 at businessman Atul Chordiya’s residence in Pune.
Leaders of MVA are seeking clarification from Sharad Pawar regarding the content of that meeting. Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole stated that his party’s leaders will discuss the meeting at the upcoming INDIA alliance’s gathering in Mumbai later this month. The Congress has expressed concern about the meeting between the NCP patriarch and the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister.
Ajit Pawar, when questioned, remarked that there was “nothing unusual” that took place during the meeting with his uncle.
On Monday, Sharad Pawar dismissed any confusion within the MVA alliance regarding his meeting with his nephew. He asserted, “The MVA is united, and we will successfully hold the next INDIA opposition bloc meeting in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1.”
Sharad Pawar’s rally in Beed today is taking place in the hometown of rebel NCP leader Dhananjay Munde. This is the second rally by Mr. Pawar in recent weeks, following one held in Nashik, the constituency of another rebel NCP leader, Chaggan Bhujbal.
It is anticipated that Mr. Pawar will organize more rallies in the coming days as part of an effort to strengthen the party’s support base and regain the support of those who have defected.
