Dr. K.A. Paul Commends Nobel Committee for Honouring a True Peacemaker, Rejecting Trump’s Self-Promotional Bid

Updated At: October 11, 2025 5:54 PM

Nobel Peace Prize Committee recognises genuine efforts for global harmony while rejecting Trump’s repeated, unfulfilled claims to resolve international conflicts and tensions.

New Delhi, October 11, 2025:

Renowned peace activist and humanitarian Dr. K.A. Paul on Saturday praised the Nobel Peace Prize Committee for awarding the prize to a deserving recipient while rejecting former U.S. President Donald Trump’s self-promotional campaign for the honour. Dr. Paul pointed out that Trump repeatedly claimed he could end major conflicts, from the Russia–Ukraine war to India–Pakistan tensions, but failed to deliver tangible results.

Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Dr. Paul highlighted several reasons why Trump was rightly overlooked and commended the committee for prioritising authentic efforts that promote human dignity, reconciliation, and lasting peace.

“The Nobel Peace Prize should recognise those who work selflessly for global harmony, not those who seek it through political theatrics,” Dr. Paul said. “I commend the committee for acknowledging a true peacemaker and not being swayed by repeated claims made for personal publicity.”

Dr. Paul, who himself was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three times (2003, 2005, 2006) by 17 countries but declined the award, stressed that the prize should reflect sustained contributions toward peace rather than personal ambition or propaganda.

Key Reasons Trump Did Not Qualify for the Nobel Peace Prize:

  1. Self-Promotion Over Merit: Genuine peacemakers are nominated by others, whereas Trump actively campaigned for the award, publicly asserting he deserved it.
  2. Political Pressure on Leaders: Trump lobbied world leaders, including prime ministers and presidents, politicising the nomination process.
  3. Unfulfilled Promises on Conflicts: Claims to end the Russia–Ukraine war “within one hour” and mediate India–Pakistan tensions went unfulfilled, highlighting a lack of results.
  4. Support for Gaza Blockade: Backing the blockade deprived millions of civilians in Gaza of essential food, water, and medical access.
  5. Proposal to Resettle Palestinians: Suggesting relocation of millions of Palestinians to other countries risked destabilising the region and violated human rights principles.
  6. Global Trade and Military Tensions: Trade conflicts and heightened military tensions undermined Trump’s credibility as a peacemaker, contrasting sharply with the committee’s choice of a unifying leader.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Paul said, “The Nobel Peace Prize Committee has sent a strong message by recognising a true advocate for peace while rejecting Trump’s propaganda. Their decision demonstrates that actions, not words, and compassion, not power, define a genuine peacemaker. I salute their integrity and foresight.”
