New Delhi: Delhi will host a National Lok Adalat on May 9, 2026, offering vehicle owners a clear opportunity to settle pending traffic challans quickly. As a result, citizens can reduce legal hassles and, in many cases, pay lower fines.
Where and when will the Lok Adalat be held?
The authorities will organise the Lok Adalat across all major district courts, including Karkardooma, Saket, Patiala House, Rouse Avenue, Dwarka, Rohini, and Tis Hazari.
Hearings will run from 10 AM to 4 PM. Therefore, vehicle owners can visit any nearby court at their convenience.
Registration process: first come, first served
Applicants must complete mandatory pre-registration before May 7, 2026 on the Delhi Police website.

- They aim to resolve nearly 2 lakh traffic challans
- Applicants must carry a printed challan copy and appointment letter
Authorities will allocate slots on a strict first-come, first-served basis.
Which traffic cases are eligible?
The Lok Adalat will take up only minor traffic violations, such as:
- Driving without a helmet
- Not wearing a seat belt
- Overspeeding
- Jumping red lights
- Wrong parking
However, authorities will exclude serious offences, including:
- Drunk driving
- Hit-and-run cases
- Major road accidents
The court will hear only challans issued till January 31, 2026.
What happens during the hearing?
A judicial officer will review each challan on the spot. Depending on the case, the officer may reduce the fine or grant partial relief.
After that, the vehicle owner must pay the final amount immediately. Once payment is completed, officials will remove the challan from the records.
