Delhi: India’s electric mobility journey has reached a major milestone. Olectra Greentech Limited has become the first company to deploy 4,000 electric buses across the country. The achievement strengthens Olectra’s leadership in sustainable public transportation and supports India’s clean mobility mission.
4,000th Electric Bus Handed Over in Himachal Pradesh
The milestone was celebrated during the launch of 297 new Olectra electric buses for the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). On the occasion, the company symbolically handed over its 4,000th electric bus to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri. Senior officials from the Himachal Pradesh Government, HRTC, and Olectra Greentech attended the ceremony.
Fleet Covers Over 730 Million Green Kilometres
Today, Olectra’s electric buses operate in several states across India. The fleet has collectively covered more than 730 million green kilometres. It has helped prevent over 6.5 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. The achievement reflects the company’s focus on innovation, quality, and environmentally friendly public transport.
Mahesh Babu Calls It a Landmark Achievement
Olectra Greentech Managing Director Mahesh Babu described the deployment of 4,000 electric buses as one of the proudest milestones in the company’s history. He said the achievement is more than a company record. It also marks a significant step forward for India’s electric mobility sector and reflects the growing confidence of state transport undertakings in electric buses.
Mahesh Babu added that Olectra is honoured to hand over its 4,000th electric bus to the Government of Himachal Pradesh while launching 297 new electric buses for the HRTC fleet. He credited the success to the company’s customers, employees, partners, and stakeholders for their continued trust and support.
Looking ahead, he said Olectra will continue driving India’s transition to sustainable public transportation.
