Dr. K. A. Paul Cites U.S. Congressman Riley Moore’s Comments as Sign of International Concern, Calls for Review of Proposed FCRA Amendment Bill
New Delhi: Global Peace Initiative founder Dr. K. A. Paul urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to withdraw the proposed FCRA Amendment Bill, warning of its impact on India’s economy, democracy and global image.
In a video message released on Thursday, Dr. Paul urged the Centre to first defer the bill and then conduct broader consultations with civil society groups, charitable organisations and other stakeholders before proceeding with the proposed amendments. He said the proposal could create uncertainty among NGOs and international partners.
Dr. Paul claimed the bill has attracted international attention, alleging that global leaders, U.S. lawmakers, business leaders and Indian non-governmental organisations have expressed concerns. He argued that the amendments may affect religious and charitable institutions, reduce foreign investment and weaken India’s global credibility.

Dr. Paul also cautioned that the legislation could affect investor confidence, employment opportunities and India’s long-term economic prospects. He appealed to Parliament to carefully review the proposal and called on citizens to participate peacefully in public debate. He added that he remains ready to meet Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah to discuss constructive alternatives.
