Delhi Paralympic Committee President discusses para-sports, inclusion and opportunities for athletes with disabilities
New Delhi: Delhi Paralympic Committee President Parul Singh met Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan during the launch of A Century of Service – The RSS in 100 Acts of Seva at Uprashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Former Telangana Governor and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan authored the book, which the Vice President released during the event. Senior journalist Rakesh Kumar Singh also attended the programme and interacted with Radhakrishnan.
Parul Singh used the interaction to discuss the growth of para-sports and the need to provide more opportunities to athletes with disabilities. She also spoke about using sports to promote inclusion and encourage greater participation.
“It was a privilege to meet and interact with the Hon’ble Vice President. We spoke about the importance of taking para-sports to a wider audience and creating more opportunities for athletes with disabilities,” Singh said.
She added that athletes have significant talent and can achieve more with the right support and platforms.
Rakesh Kumar Singh also discussed social responsibility and the role of journalism in highlighting initiatives that benefit society.
“It was a warm and meaningful interaction with the Hon’ble Vice President. The discussion around service and social responsibility was particularly relevant to the occasion,” he said.
Secretary to the Vice President Amit Khare, IAS, and other distinguished guests also attended the book launch.
The book, A Century of Service – The RSS in 100 Acts of Seva, presents 100 accounts of seva associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s century-long history. Radhakrishnan said documenting such work helps preserve it for future generations.
The event also brought together discussions on social service, sports, inclusion and public engagement.
